OMÜ-TURKISH TRIP TO SAMSUN

On February 1, 2024, B1-level Turkish language students enrolled at the Ondokuz Mayıs University Turkish Language Teaching Application and Research Center had the opportunity to visit various landmarks in Samsun. During this tour organized through OMÜ-TÜRKÇE, important locations such as Cumhuriyet Square, Bulvar AVM, Çiftlik Street, and Gazi Street were introduced to the students. Students from various countries around the world were taken on a tour of places that have become part of Samsun's and Turkey's culture. Historical structures in Samsun, such as Site Mosque and Büyük Mosque, as well as Saathane Square and the old historical structures there, were shown to the students, and various information was provided. The Gazi Museum, which houses Mustafa Kemal Atatürk's belongings, statue, and many memorabilia, was visited. Here, the students were introduced to the wax statues of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his comrades-in-arms, as well as some of Atatürk's personal belongings. Additionally, a model of the Bandırma Steamship, which Atatürk arrived in Samsun on May 19, 1919, was shown to the students, and the connection between Samsun and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk was explained to them.
